ICS Students Demonstrate Excellence at Regional Model United Nations Conference
- High School
- Middle School
Our Middle and High School students recently represented the school at the Tanglin Model United Nations (TMUN) Conference, a highly competitive, student-led event that brought together over 500 delegates from 20 international schools across Singapore and Malaysia.
Competing alongside peers from some of the region’s leading international schools, our students demonstrated the depth of preparation, confidence, and global awareness that define our co-curricular programs. Their performance reflected not only individual effort, but also the rigor and intentionality with which students are trained to think critically, communicate clearly, and engage respectfully with complex global issues.
Several students were recognized for their outstanding contributions:
- Riley T. (Grade 11) received the Most Diplomatic Delegate award, recognizing her ability to navigate challenging discussions with discernment, poise, and a commitment to constructive dialogue.
- Kyra F. (Grade 6), participating in MUN for the first time, earned an Honorable Mention. Her strong preparation and thoughtful engagement stood out among far more experienced delegates.
- Lucas A. (Grade 9) was awarded Best Delegate, an honor reflecting his comprehensive understanding of the topic, persuasive communication, and ability to defend his position with clarity and confidence. Reflecting on the experience, Lucas shared:
“This award showed me that the work I put into MUN pays off. However, MUN is not about the awards—it is a learning experience. Even after receiving this award, I can still see many areas for improvement that will help me grow further.”
Participation in MUN is a demanding and formative experience. Students engage in extensive research, structured debate, and collaborative problem-solving, developing skills that are essential for leadership in an increasingly complex and interconnected world. Through this process, students grow not only in knowledge but also in empathy, humility, and responsibility.
We are grateful for the dedicated leadership of Ms. Suzy Maben and Dr. Zarraz Quick, whose expertise and commitment challenge students to pursue excellence while remaining grounded in character and purpose.
Moments like these affirm our commitment to educating minds, transforming lives, and equipping students to engage the world with competence, conviction, and faith.
