Dec 14, SafeEntry and TraceTogether Program

Dear ICS Community,

Greetings. As we approach the last few days of the first semester, I wanted to begin by thanking God for his mercies in allowing us to meet face to face with our students in our classrooms. It has truly been a gift to be able to be with your children throughout this entire semester. Though it has been a challenge for all involved to work through the government protocols that have been put in place. I am very hopeful that some of those measures will be eased in the new year.

Although we don't know all of the changes that will take place in the future, we have received a new update from the Council for Private Education (CPE) that we need to share with you. This update is about the protocols around the use of the TraceTogether App and TraceTogether tokens for entry onto our campus in the second semester. Please read the following carefully:

  1. Until TraceTogether-only SafeEntry (ToS) is mandated (date to be confirmed by the MTF), international schools must still be able to check in all visitors (including students and staff) with TT tokens with immediate effect, on top of existing check-in modes.
  2. When ToS is subsequently mandated, entry to international school premises by all visitors (including students and staff) will be allowed only if the individual uses their TT App to scan the center's QR code or presents the QR code on the TT token to be scanned.

What does this mean for families? You will need to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • In Grades 1 through 5, the students (age 7 and above) will have to have a TT token.
  • In Grades 6 and up, students can either use a TT token or the TraceTogether App.
  • Students below the age of 7 will be manually checked in via their NRIC/FIN by their teachers daily until additional guidelines are mandated.
  • TraceTogether tokens and phones (with TT App) will need to be with the student as they move around the campus.
  • We will use the month of January as a transition period to implement the TraceTogether program for admittance onto campus. Once the government confirms the date for ToS, students will not be allowed onto campus without the token or app.

Thank you for taking the time to put the TT App or token in place as soon as possible. We know this process will be a challenge, but we thank you in advance for your compliance.

Finally, the CPE has asked all international schools to remind their students to observe safe distancing rules outside of campus. Across the island, there has been a recent increase in large student groups gathering and the consequences can be quite severe (fines, cancellation of Student Passes). While this is not aimed directly at ICS students, I ask that you reiterate the safe distancing protocols that have been set up. This is especially important for our older students who tend to go out on their own.

Thank you for your help with this process. Your children have demonstrated incredible flexibility during the first semester and we are proud of the way they have handled themselves through this challenging journey. We are excited to welcome everyone back to school on January 12. Have a wonderful Christmas break as we celebrate the birth of our Savior.

With Blessings,
Dr. J.P Rader
