Bring Your Own Device Program

We strongly recommend a Windows or macOS laptop as this is usually the best device for day-to-day learning that offers the most suitable environment for our general learning platforms and daily tasks. However, we welcome other devices such as robust tablets or alternative operating systems provided they can fully access class materials, complete assessments, and connect to our network.

Please note: Students enrolled in specialized courses, specifically Digital Arts, Yearbook, or Computer Science required to have a Windows or macOS laptop. These courses use special software and licensing  (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud) that is not compatible with tablets or Chromebooks.

The security health of the device is the device owner's responsibility. Students are highly recommended to perform the following:

1. Install an antivirus software on your personal device.

2. Set a strong device password.

3. Set the device to lock screen whenever not in use. 

Students are also required to inform the IT team whenever they change their device to manage the transfer of school-software licenses from one computer to another.

In not doing so, the student will be liable and at risk of data and/or privacy breach.

Innocom Technologies Pte Ltd has offered a discounted rate for ICS families under the Bring Your Own Device program. Please note that the transaction will be online and direct from parent-to-merchant. ICS parents just need to provide the student's Campus ID card number along with other payment details to Innocom. 

BYOD Order Form

Students are allowed to bring additional devices (tablets/mobile), however, not all school applications are compatible with these devices. A laptop is still the "main device" to use.

• IT will provide license and installation package of softwares/drivers. Support to troubleshoot installation issues will be provided.

• Management and monitoring of the BYOD Wi-Fi network and connectivity issues (security & policy)

• Management and monitoring of school accounts: Google account, LMS, extensions

• Maintenance and issuance of contingency devices. This will be limited and is upon the discretion of the principals. 

• The school is not responsible for the management of hardware and/or personally-owned software & applications on the BYOD device

• Students are also required to inform the IT team whenever they change their device to manage the transfer of school-software licenses from one computer to another.

IT can help assess and advise, however, IT will not be liable for any damage of the student-owned device.

Under the Student Handbook's Technology Code of Conduct, VPN use and access to inappropriate content are prohibited. While ICS IT does not install monitoring software on student-owned devices, it proactively filters content through the network and utilizes default-enabled Google SafeSearch. The school network, to which student devices connect, is continuously monitored.

No. IT will not be installing any management or monitoring (MDM) software on student's personal devices. However, IT will be monitoring the school WiFi network that a student's personal device is connected to while on campus.
