Welcome Back!

"As the new Director at ICS I want to extend a warm hello to you. Please come by my office when you get the chance so I can greet you. I am looking forward to a very exciting 2019-20 school year at ICS. Students have always come first on this campus and, as we continue through our third decade of existence, that remains at the core of who we are. It is always exciting to see the enthusiasm, curiosity and passion that our students bring to the classroom, playing fields, stages and service trips. I look forward to being able to support your child in all of those arenas.

Thank you for choosing ICS. We are excited for all that God has in store for us in the coming year. We are committed to Academic excellence and delivering a program that is centered in Christ. There are exciting days ahead!"

School Policies Regarding Health and Safety

Please read the ICS Parent and Student Handbook to ensure you are aware of school policies regarding health and safety. Some policies have changed since last year.

  • Immunizations: Singapore law requires all children to be vaccinated against diphtheria and measles. You would have been notified if your child needed any immunizations prior to starting school. Please send in your immunization certificates for our records. Your child would not be able to start school without the required vaccinations.

  • Medication at school: If your child requires medication during school hours, you will need to fill out a Medication Authorization Form which legally allows us to give your child medication. Without this form, we are not able to give out the medication. The medication must be appropriately labeled with the time the medication is to be taken, dose, name of the medication, expiry date and reason for medication. All labels must be in English. The Medication Authorization Form can be found in the FAO, or ICS Parent Portal under 'Forms'. Students are not permitted to carry medication at school.

  • Allergies: Asthma Action Plan must be completed by parents and returned to the FAO. Any student with a prescribed inhaler must either a) provide inhaler to the FAO for administration, or b) a Authorization To Carry And Self Administer Emergency Medication Form be completed If your child has any allergy, please ensure the allergy is listed along with the reaction on the Emergency Medical Release Form that will be in your parent packet. Please be aware that elementary classes are all ‘nut-free spaces’. Your child’s snacks and any food for class parties must not contain nuts. The canteen, however, is not nut-free. There are ‘nut-free tables’ allocated in the canteen. If your child is prescribed an Epi-Pen, we will require he/she sit at the nut-free table.

Our school policy states that if your child is prescribed an Epi-Pen, they must have two at school. You will also need to fill out the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan and have it signed by a Physician. Please see FAO to access these forms and discuss a management plan. Your child will not be able to commence school until Epi-Pens are provided.

  • Asthma: For the safety of your child, we request that any student with a prescribed inhaler either a) provide one to the FAO for administration, or b) complete an Authorization To Carry And Self Administer Emergency Medication Form, signed by a parent and approved by FAO and relevant Principal, for their child to self-carry an Inhaler. ICS also has an Asthma Action Plan for parents to fill out if their child has asthma.

If a student is capable and responsible for self-administering emergency medication (Epi-Pen/Inhaler), an Authorization To Carry And Self Administer Emergency Medication Form may be filled out and signed by the parents. The student will then be assessed by the First Aid Officer and signed off by First Aid Officer and relevant Principal.

  • Students Who Are Sick: If your child has a fever of 37.8 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit), is vomiting, has diarrhea, or has any contagious condition, please keep your child at home. If a student comes to school with a fever, we will call and request that he/she be taken home. As per school policy, a child should be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. As a reminder, students who are sick need to rest, drink lots of fluids, and eat well.

  • Picking-up Your Child: If you are to collect a sick child at school, please pick up your child in a timely manner to avoid the spread of infection. Elementary students must be picked up by a parent or appointed adult. Middle school students may leave campus (walk, bus, or taxi) with parental permission.

  • Sports Physical Forms: If your child is playing a competitive sport this year, he/she is required to have a Medical Examination For Competitive Sports Form completed by a physician before he/she is allowed to play.

NOTE
All forms can be found at the FAO, or you can email firstaid@ics.edu.sg and request them.
