2017 WWW Team Updates

YWAM (Tamar Ministry)

Hey parents!

Your kids are excited to see you (and their own beds) tomorrow! :) Yesterday we took the children to the Botanic Gardens for a photo scavenger hunt which was a huge success. Today we did hard manual labor in the outdoor space at Tamar Village. The girls worked so hard and did so well!

Thanks for lending them to us for the week! We have thoroughly enjoyed our time with your sweet (and silly) girls!

Teen Challenge

We had a great week at Teen Challenge. We finished our work projects, heard more stories from the residents and staff of how God changed their lives, and we had opportunities to play soccer.

All of us have walked away learning new things about the power of God, ourselves and Singapore organizations to help others.

Thank you for entrusting your children with us this week.

Friendly reminder to please pick up or ensure you child has a way home when we arrive at ICS around 12pm tomorrow. The students must leave the campus straightaway as they will not be allowed to stay on campus after we return.

Lakeside Team

Dear FIT Parents,

We had such a wonderful day at the zoo today. The children really loved the animals and the water playground at the end of our zoo time. Your sons and daughters were excellent with the children. There was so much laughter by everyone-it was wonderful to see. My wife and I have worked with one particular girl for four years. Today was her last day at the FIT shelter and she has been sad all week. But today she had a smile on her face the entire day because of the relationships your kids have made.

Thanks for entrusting them to us.

Blessings,
Kelley for Ashleigh too

HealthServe Team

Dear Parents,

After two days of service in Little India among Bangladeshi migrant workers, our HealthServe team completed our Week Without Walls service project in the Geylang area on Thursday. Students cleaned the HealthServe clinic, which was no minor task. Our students have been invited to return to volunteer for community service. Please remember, all ICS students in grade 9-11 will arrive back at the ICS campus on Friday, March 17 at around 12 pm noon. Students cannot remain on campus and must arrange their own transportation home. We hope and pray that Spring Break is an enjoyable time for your family. Thank you for all your prayers during WWW service time. Information about our post-trip presentations will be sent soon.

Abundant Blessings, Mr Padgett & Mr Sattler

Salvation Army Team

Hi parents,

This photo captures only a fraction of the smiles and laughter that we had this week. We look forward to sharing more photos and our stories with you. Mr. Moore and I are incredibly proud of each student on this team - especially for their intentionality in befriending and learning to love their Haven buddies so well. The mural behind us is just one example of the partnership that developed over this week.

As always, thank you for entrusting your child to us. Enjoy having them back tomorrow! :-)

Ms. Shang & Mr. Moore

Willing Hearts Team

Our willing Hearts team has been working hard in the kitchen this week! Our students and leaders have been sorting, cleaning peeling and chopping all kinds of vegetables like cabbage, onions, potatoes and water chestnuts. Wenednesday we spent almost three hours dicing hotdogs and unloaded a truck full of celery. There is always something to do at Willing Hearts to help out, and our students have been keeping busy every day this week!

A reminder we will be returning to ICS in Friday at 12 p.m. If you are picking up your student please do so promptly. Students are not allowed to hang out on campus when we return. Thank you.

Your Willing Hearts leaders,
Mrs. Deibler
Mr. Ng

Salvation Army Team

Hi parents,

After 4 days of camp, today was our first day with The Haven residents and it was awesome. We kicked off our time with some music and ice-breakers led by both the ICS students and Haven kids, then grouped up each member of our team with their "buddy" for the rest of the day, which included visiting ICS to attend the Watoto performance, designing their portion of the mural, and just spending time getting to know each other through sports and games. Tomorrow we head to a ropes course adventure for more fun and bonding with The Haven kids.

Mr. Moore and I are proud of our team's willingness to serve and engage so intentionally with their Haven buddies. Please continue to pray for good health, strong spirits, and open hearts as we serve and grow in unity as a team.

Thank you!
Ms. Shang & Mr. Moore

HealthServe Team

Dear Parents,

Thank you for trusting ICS to teach your daughters and sons to be lifelong learners. This past Friday and Saturday, our HealthServe team completed all of their adventure activities along with their confidence and team building skills here at Camp Sarimbun. OnSunday, all of the WWW teams participated in a nature hike together at the Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve. On Monday, the HealthServe team started their service project in the Geylang area. The team received orientation from the HealthServe staff and met many migrant workers. Students had lunch with several injured migrant workers and interviewed them as a part of an assignment so they could understand the many challenges the injured workers face each day here in Singapore. One of the projects today was to write greeting cards to attach to soap bars that our students made during community service. Also, they cleaned part of the clinic office and took inventory of medicines. The students did an amazing job, which made it a fruitful day of relationship building. On Tuesday & Wednesday, the team will be serving in Little India. We'll send another update in a couple of days. Please continue to pray for our team.

Blessings, Mr Padgett & Mr Sattler, and the HealthServe Team

Lakeside Team Update

Dear Parents,

Your son's and daughters did a fabulous job today. They have been planning for this week for quite some time and executed their first day working with the children with excellence. We are proud of each and every one of them. The kids who we are working with this week are very underprivileged. To have their break from local school this week filled with fun, energetic, and caring teenagers is a blessing to them and something they will probably never forget. We see all of the objectives of WWW being fulfilled as we work together as a team to bless the children with God's love.

The aspect of today that stands out the most to us is that the students are in charge. They are the leaders of this week and they did REALLY well leading on their first day.

We will give another update later in the week.

Blessings,
The Lakeside Team
