May 26, Important Information For Year-End Textbook And Technology Return
Dear ICS Parents,
It is amazing to think that the end of the year is upon us. Needless to say, my first year at ICS has been full of events I could never have anticipated even five months ago. This week, we will celebrate what is traditionally our most anticipated event of the school year: graduation. Twenty-two students end their time as ICS students this week, and we are grateful for the legacy they leave in our community. It has been my pleasure to get to know them this year and watch as they have grown into leaders on campus. I want to extend a personal invitation for you to join us this Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. to watch our online graduation ceremony for the class of 2020. It will be a wonderful time of remembrance and celebration.
We all feel the loss of not being able to come together to celebrate and bring closure to the end of the school year as we have in past years. As I shared last week, we have worked with the Singapore government to develop a plan to facilitate the return of textbooks and technology. Unfortunately, due to the government's requirements to resume learning, we will not be able to allow students back onto campus for the end of this year. Only parents will be allowed onto campus to return textbooks and technology. This truly has been a difficult decision to make because it means our community will not experience the closure that we all desire to have.
We understand there may be a number of questions regarding why we are unable to open campus to students. The government has placed a significant number of requirements onto schools to be able to reopen the week of June 2. These requirements include all of the government's announced social distancing requirements; applying for all students to return to campus; a reorganization of all campus spaces; and allowing no more than 50% of students in each division on campus at one time. We would also like to gently remind families that none of our faculty and staff have been allowed onto campus since April 8, so our campus is not set up to facilitate the entry of students, as the government's requirements have changed significantly since when we closed campus.
Parents of students who are not returning to ICS next year, including parents of graduates, are able to sign up for a 30-minute window to return textbooks and technology on June 4. Parents of students returning in August are able to sign up for a 30-minute time slot to return textbooks and technology on June 5, 8, or 9.

We have compiled a checklist of items you need to bring onto campus. We have also provided a summary below:
To come onto campus, you must:
• Have your NRIC/FIN card or the Singpass App to be scanned to be compliant with the government's SafeEntry requirements
• Have the TraceTogether App downloaded onto your phone - this is required for entry into all government-owned sites, and ICS is a government-owned site
• Have your ICS ID
• Wear a mask at all times
• Observe all safe-distancing measures as directed by ICS
• Only adults will be allowed onto campus
When you come onto campus, you will be greeted by a staff member who will help you complete the checkout and return process. The process will include:
• Returning textbooks, novels, and library books
• Returning technology
• Clearing out your child's locker
• Collecting students' medicine (if necessary)
• Returning athletic uniforms (if necessary)
• Completing the travel documentation form
• Payment of any outstanding payments or fines
Teachers will not be on campus during the textbook and technology return. If you would like to thank your child's teachers for the investment they have made in your child's life this year, we invite you to contact them directly via Schoology or their ICS email account.
If you have any questions regarding the return of textbooks and technology, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
On behalf of the entire ICS administration, faculty, and staff, I want to once again express my gratitude for your prayers and support these last three months. God has been good despite the challenges. None of us are immune to the losses we have experienced this semester - the lost opportunities to celebrate the end of the school year and the lost opportunities to say good-bye as we would have hoped. I speak for all of us when I say that we have missed the daily interaction with your children and hearing their stories and laughter; giving out daily high-fives and hugs, and experiencing life and learning together. My prayer for our community is that we will all be able to experience healing, rest, and rejuvenation over the summer holiday. We look forward to having all of our students back on campus in August.
Blessings on you,
Dr. J.P. Rader
