July 10, Getting Ready to Welcome You Back
July 10, Getting Ready to Welcome You Back

Dear ICS community,

Greetings to all of you! I hope your summer has been going well. It has been an unusual summer for all of us as we have stayed in Singapore. I hope that you have found some time to spend with your family during this Phase 2 period. I know your children are starting to get excited about returning to school at ICS. We have dearly missed their energy, the sound of their voices, and their laughter.

I am happy to share some good news: we have been able to safely get all of our new teachers and administrators into Singapore. God has been good. They are currently in the 14-day quarantine period and will soon start their journey as ICS teachers and administrators.

I am grateful to our admin team and facilities team who have worked hard over the summer break to get the campus ready to resume face-to-face learning on August 12.

We cannot wait to have our students back on campus. Unfortunately, many of their experiences will differ from those of the past. Nevertheless, all of the protocols and procedures the Singapore government has mandated on campus are necessary for our community's health and safety. We are committed to providing the safest possible environment for your child to learn. We are confident ICS is the right place for your child to sustain their academic growth, protect their social-emotional well being, and continue their journey with God.

Our admin team has been evaluating changes in the following areas:

1. Operations
(how your child will access campus, bus service, drop off and pick up, canteen and gym and playground usage)

2. Scheduling
(safe distancing of students in hallways, staggered bell schedules, related arts adjustments, recess, and lunchtimes)

3. Teaching and Learning
(desks distanced in the classroom, wiping down equipment between classes, masks worn by all on campus, no mixing of small groups, assigned seating, collaboration work)

4. Social-emotional
(individual counseling, K-12 in-class presentations by counselors about safe behaviors and safe classrooms)

In the coming weeks, we will be sending out additional emails representing the first iteration of our detailed return to school plan.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. We are excited to welcome your children back to school. I would ask all of our community to continue to pray God's provisions for ICS, our faculty, staff, and students as we all prepare to return in August.
