Congratulations! Class of 2020!
On behalf of everyone here at ICS, I want to congratulate all of our ICS seniors. May 29 will be a significant day in their lives as they officially complete their high school careers and begin the next phase of their educational journeys. They are all to be commended for the hard work they have put in at ICS, in and out of the classroom. As they prepare to receive their diplomas, I want to acknowledge how proud we are of their accomplishments and the outstanding leadership they have provided our school these past few years. Although I have only shared one year with them at ICS, I have seen many examples of the positive ways they have impacted our community. Their impact has been felt in the classrooms, on the playing fields, in support of community events on campus, on stage, and in their acts of service. One memory I will take with me from this class was the incredible volume of work that was put in by the seniors during the Week Without Walls on campus. Whether it was mixing cement by hand, carrying buckets of rocks, pushing wheelbarrows, creating art, leading worship, painting, visiting classrooms, or digging up roots, the seniors led the way by demonstrating a positive, strong work ethic.
My prayer is that the ICS seniors will be a source of light at the universities they attend. Samuel Rodriquez in his book Be Light writes that God began with this message in Genesis 1:3 declaring "let there be light!" Life requires light, faith requires light. As our seniors take their next steps, the ICS community will be praying that they can bring hope to those around them in the communities that they enter. As Matthew 5:14-16 says "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
