Dear ICS Parents,
I want all of you to be aware of the precautionary steps we are taking as a school to ensure the safety of our students and faculty as we face the threat of the Coronavirus from Wuhan, China. The Ministry of Health (MOH) has been providing updates the past week which we have tracked in order to stay on top of the situation.
Protecting student and staff health is our top priority. Because of that we are following the guidelines that have been issued by the Singapore Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education. In the interest of providing a safe learning environment for all students we are asking your help with some additional measures that have come out of our discussions with our health care team here at ICS.
1. Please fill out this Travel Declaration Form. All students who have traveled to mainland China after January 13 must remain at home for a 14 day leave of absence, as set forth by the Singapore government. The 14 days begin on the day after the student returned from China. Please fill out the form and return it to ICS as soon as possible.
2. We ask that you take your children's temperature before sending them to school. If they have a temperature of 37.5 or above, please keep them at home until they are fever-free/symptom-free for 48 hours—without the use of fever-reducing medication before returning them to school.
What will be the protocol at ICS?
We have cleared all of our faculty and staff as none of them have traveled to China over the Lunar break. This ensures that we will have a full faculty and staff available to teach and support your students.
When the students arrive on Wednesday, we will have several temperature checking stations set up in the canteen for students who were unable to check their temperatures at home or who would like verification of their temperature. Once classes begin in the morning, our First Aid Officers will also be going into the various classrooms and doing spot checks of temperature on students. Additionally, hand sanitizers will be available in every classroom for the periodic cleaning of the student's hands. Our goal is to ensure a safe learning environment for our students.
On-campus, we are adding two additional First Aid officers to the two First Aid officers that will be present to provide the best possible care for our students. Our First Aid Officers will work closely with any children who have concerns or symptoms of fever or respiratory illness. Masks will be provided for any children who exhibit any signs of fever or illness.
We appreciate your support for the measures we are taking in conjunction with the MOH and MOE. We know this is a difficult situation that is changing with each passing day. Please pay close attention to school communications in the coming days.
Thank you for your support.
