Dear ICS Parent Community,
I want to update you on how we are continuing to monitor the Coronavirus situation in the region. We realize the Coronavirus has the potential to impact our academic and extracurricular programs. We want to assure you we continue to monitor information from Singapore's Ministry of Health, the U.S. Embassy, and the World Health Organization. We are also in communication with International SOS, our consultant for international travel safety. Additionally, we are in contact with other international schools here in Singapore and in the region. We are continuing to closely monitor events in the Asia Pacific region as the situation continues to change as more information is released each day.
In March, we have several student travel opportunities planned, including Week Without Walls, Faithworks, and the ICS Bangkok sports tournament. While these programs are essential in our curriculum, the safety of our students, faculty, and families remains our primary concern. We will be looking carefully at the developments with the Coronavirus this week. On Friday, February 7, the leadership team will make a final decision on whether these trips will be canceled. We will communicate this decision to you on Friday.
In the event the Week Without Walls and Faithworks trips are canceled, ICS will try to provide an alternative service program in Singapore during the timeframe of the original trips. However, as the situation with the Coronavirus continues to change, we will remain sensitive to the health and safety of both our ICS community and the community of Singapore.
Our priority in making decisions is to ensure the health and well-being of our community. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this difficult situation.
Thank you for your support.
Dr. J.P. Rader
