Learning Support
Placement:
Students with current psycho-educational reports dated within the last 3 years can be considered for the learning support program. If a student presenting learning needs has not been formally assessed, we follow our learning support referral process that begins with the Response to Intervention (RTI). The level of support a student needs will be determined by ICS using the evaluation reports.
Levels of Support:
Eligible students are placed on one of three Learning Support Levels reflecting the amount and type of support needed.
(Level 1) Consult: Student has a psychological evaluation with recommended accommodations for a learning support plan and/or from their current school. Level 1 students require accommodations across one area of learning and no additional support from a learning support teacher.
(Level 2) In-Class Support: Student has a psychological evaluation with recommended accommodations for a learning support plan and/or a learning support plan from their current school. Level 2 students require accommodations across more than one area of learning and/or in-class support with a learning support teacher.
(Level 3) In-Class Support and Direct Services: Student has a psychological evaluation with recommended accommodations for a learning support plan and/or a learning support plan from current school. Level 3 students require significant accommodations in multiple areas of learning. Students require both in-class support and pull-out intervention support with a learning support teacher. Middle School students take learning support in place of 1-2 electives depending on the student’s needs.
