Full Time Substitute Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (exceptions to be approved by the Academic Review Board)
  • Teaching credential from a state or from ACSI (exceptions will be approved by the Academic Board)
  • Experience working with students

REPORTS TO: Appropriate level principal

JOB GOAL: Provide a quality, Christian education to those students he/she teaches.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regular Duties - 

  • Execute appropriate lessons, utilizing appropriate resource materials and activities.

  • Follow the prescribed substitute lesson plan provided by the teachers as scheduled.

  • Follow school policies, procedures, rules, regulations and guidelines, and the provisions of the contract.

  • Maintain proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises utilizing teacher-made discipline plan in conjunction with the school-wide discipline plan. Consistent consequences are expected except in extenuating circumstances.

  • Employ a variety of instructional aides, methods, and materials per the plans provided by the teacher that will facilitate creative teaching that impacts the whole child.

  • Do supervisory duty as assigned (before school, break, lunch, after school).

  • Submit all reports to the administration, guidance office, school office etc. as required by school regulations or as requested.

  • Maintain teaching credentials as required by sponsoring agency (state/provincial education department, ACSI, etc.). Acquire teaching credentials as required by the laws of Singapore, NICS and/or ICS.

  • Complete daily classroom reports for the regular classroom teacher.

  • Attend all staff meetings and assist front office and/or academic office as needed during in-service days (including during accreditation committee meetings). A principal may require attendance at school-level meetings as needed.

  • Report for office hours on parent/teacher conference days.

  • Attend all functions that are mandatory for teachers-carnival, international night, graduation, etc. (see staff handbook for complete list).

  • Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.

  • Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism.

  • Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, open-mindedness, dignity, and consideration.

  • Maintain a personal appearance that models cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and is in agreement with school policy.

Job Scope Unique to the Full-Time Substitutes -

  • Report to the academic assistant each morning for classroom assignments

  • When not needed for classroom substitution: report to the academic assistant for assignment of other duties as needed: morning duty, office assistant, assisting with grading, etc.

  • All other duties as assigned
