COMMUNITY
SERVICE PROGRAM |
| Students
participate in community service in some form on a
weekly or quarterly basis. |
| Students
in grades K-4 perform their community service during
one class period each week on the ICS campus. |
Beginning
in Grade 5, students go off campus for service projects,
in addition to their on-campus work. |
| During
Middle School (grades 6 - 8) the focus is moved off
campus with the requirement being one major group project
per quarter. These projects may include visits
to a home for the elderly or to the Bishan Home for
the intellectually disabled. |
| The
high school students are required to independently
arrange and complete nine hours of community service
each quarter. Examples of community service at the
H.S. level: |
- Teaching or assisting at schools
for children with learning disabilities
- Volunteering at homes for the elderly
- Participating in the Big Brother/Sister
program
- Leading in Wyldlife (middle school
program from Young Life)
- Volunteer teaching in the area of
The Arts.
