COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM

Students participate in community service in some form on a weekly or quarterly basis.
Students in grades K-4 perform their community service during one class period each week on the ICS campus.

Beginning in Grade 5, students go off campus for service projects, in addition to their on-campus work.

During Middle School (grades 6 - 8) the focus is moved off campus with the requirement being one major group project per quarter.  These projects may include visits to a home for the elderly or to the Bishan Home for the intellectually disabled.
The high school students are required to independently arrange and complete nine hours of community service each quarter. Examples of community service at the H.S. level:
  • Teaching or assisting at schools for children with learning disabilities
  • Volunteering at homes for the elderly
  • Participating in the Big Brother/Sister program
  • Leading in Wyldlife (middle school program from Young Life)
  • Volunteer teaching in the area of The Arts.
