The Vision & The Need
In the fall of 2014, ICS received confirmation that we will remain at our current location through the 2019-2020 school year. By the summer of 2020, ICS will have been at the Jubilee Road location for 14 years. Because of the nature of this property, we know that there will not be an option for us to stay at this location beyond that date.
We have been blessed to have had a strong working relationship with the Singapore government. At each step in ICS's development, relevant government agencies have been instrumental in helping us develop solutions to our meet our needs. As a result of ongoing discussions over the past year, we now have a clearer roadmap for our future. With that clarity comes a set of strategic challenges. The ICS leadership has endorsed a two-phase plan for our future development and growth.
First, we must grow in place.
We must use our remaining years at the Jubilee Road campus wisely. As space allows, we need to grow in place. This involves both investments in our facilities and continued expansion of the the breadth of our educational programs. To accomplish this goal, we need your help. We have established a goal of raising $1M within the next 12 months.
Second, we will secure the long-term future of ICS.
ICS has been blessed through the years to have been provided with three different facilities on short-term lease. Each time, God has provided just the right solution at just the right time. We have always know that, as an international school, the long-term security of ICS involves obtaining a facility with a long-term lease. We now know that this next transition in 2020 will be to that permanent facility. Obtaining a facility with a long-term lease will be a tremendous blessing, but at the same time, this presents a God-sized challenge that can only be accomplished through His leadership. Our role, the task for this generation of ICS families, staff, and supporters is now clear.
We don't know where this long term home might be or what the exact cost will be, but we do know that the cost will be significant. We have set a target of raising approximately $20M to enable us to embark on a building project in the $40M to $50M range. A God-sized task indeed!
Let me assure you that in no way will these challenges draw us away from our core mission, that is Educating Minds and Transforming Lives (of our current students) to Impact the World for the Glory of God. This is what our teachers and staff will continue to stay focused on each day. This is our passion. This is who we are.
Psalm 145:4 says "One generation shall praise Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts." We at ICS, today, are privileged to be part of the school at a pivotal point in time. We can look back to clearly see how God has blessed this school. We praise God for His mighty works! And, we have the honor of being part of the opening chapters of the next phase of His plans for ICS. We can look forward with great expectation to see Him at work again. I am confident that future generations will look back at this time and once again praise God for His provision.
We need everyone in the ICS extended family to do their part.
Our goals: to raise $1M by Dec 2015 and $16M by 2018. What is your role?
