ICS was founded in 1993 by a group of parents from several different nationalities and walks of life. Their common goal was to establish a Christian school in Singapore to serve the needs of both corporate and missionary expatriates. Led by Mr. Graham Holderness of St. George’s Anglican Church, the school opened the doors of its elementary program to the expatriate community of Singapore under its original name of Christian International School, Ltd. (CIS).
In 1995, the CIS school board voted to become an affiliate member of the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS), which operates a growing network of Christian international schools in East Asia and throughout the world. That same year the high school program was added, and the school’s name changed to International Community School (Singapore).
During the summer of 1996, ICS was accepted as a candidate for joint accreditation by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). After a site visit in October 1999, ICS was awarded full accreditation for by both ACSI and WASC.
Today, we have 450+ students and 80+ faculty and staff members. With a low student-teacher ratio, our teachers are fully committed to excellence as well as to the development of the whole student – physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Our goal is to have an environment where Christ is modeled and taught daily, to educate minds and transform lives to impact the world for the glory of God.
