Dear ICS Parents and Students,
We pray you are enjoying a restful Summer break.
We are pleased to announce that we have found a highly recommended new Director for our International Community School of Singapore. His name is Don Cole and he will be starting August 1st. He has been described by our partners at the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS) as "one of America’s leading Christian school administrators."
As you well know, transition is a consistent part of life for ICS. At the end of this last school year, Dr. Beeson agreed to take the post of Director at a sister school in Korea. As the ICS board, we worked in partnership with NICS to identify qualified candidates and begin the process of finding a new director. We believe God led us to Don Cole and it was the unanimous vote of the board that we offer him this position, and we feel blessed that he accepted. Due to a variety of factors we have agreed that he will be filling this post in an interim capacity for the 2010-2011 school year, with the possibility of a longer tenure. Please join us in prayer for Don with all he has to do in the next few weeks of preparing to move to Singapore. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Doug Flemming or any of the board members (see below).
We are excited that God is blessing ICS. Our current enrollment is up from last year and we have a strong administrative and teaching team with some very good new additions joining us. We are praying as a leadership team that God will move in unusual ways so we can see ICS "transforming lives to impact the world for God's glory." We feel ICS is poised to move to a higher level spiritually, academically, and as a community, so we would ask you to join us in prayer and service to see God do this.
In Pursuit of Excellence,
The ICS Board of Directors
Doug Flemming, Chairman Stan Parks, Deputy Chairman

Don Cole
Don was born and raised in Dearborn, MI. His parents were faithful and active in their local church and Don accepted the Lord when 9 years old. His parents were married 58 years before his mother went home to be with the Lord. His 86 year old father still resides in Michigan, as does his brother and his family. His sister and her husband live in Wisconsin. One of Don’s nieces, (and her husband) teach at the Sahel Academy in Niamey, Niger!
Don knew from the 7th grade that he wanted to be a teacher - because of the influence of his history teacher!
He has served over 30 years in Christian school education. During these years, in California, he has taught in middle school, coached, been the principal at several K-8 schools and was Superintendent at a large school in Southern California. He has been fortunate to serve at some outstanding schools, with high academic standards, top athletic programs and strong music and art programs. His last school won the National Blue Ribbon Award, the highest award given by the US Department of Education.
Spiritual formation is always foremost on his heart and he has strong desire to see students accept the Lord and develop a strong personal relationship with Him.
Don has served on the ACSI Executive Board and has spoken at ACSI, MACSA, CAPSO, ELCA conferences throughout the US and Canada. He has traveled to Russia on the Co-Mission, and has been fortunate to travel to many places around the US and the world, including Singapore!
He has a son in Colorado who is married and has 4 children. His daughter lives in Northern California where she is the Administrator at a law firm.
I am excited to be a part of the International Community School in Singapore. The opportunity to influence students – academically and spiritually – is tremendous. I look forward to meeting the faculty and staff, and serving our Great God together.
