Soap Box Derby
The Soap Box Derby originates from the United States where the first races were held in 1934 for youth. Making its debut in Singapore at the Singapore G1 Event, these soap box cars which have been purchased from the United States, are made of recyclable plastic and have been tested for safety. The soap box cars are unpowered and rely on gravity to move which make for an enjoyable and entertaining race.
Schools in Singapore will be given the opportunity to own these soap box car kits and participate in specific workshops where they will be instructed on how to assemble the cars and decorate the cars in individual team colors. A total of 30 schools will race on 19th September 2010 at the F1 track at The Float @ Marina Bay and ICS is one of them!!
We would like to invite ALL ICS students/parents and families to come to the F1 Track on September 19th to cheer our ICS team on! All who come should wear an ICS shirt! See you there!!

MS Student Council
Being a part of Middle School Student Council provides an opportunity for students to learn responsibility and servant leadership skills while bonding as a group. Being a representative gives students the chance to make a positive impact in the ICS Middle School. Weekly meetings will be held after school in Miss Burnett’s room (B402) on Tuesdays. The length of the meetings will vary but should be completed by 4:30 p.m. Representative duties include the following:
- Help plan and attend student council events and meetings
- Represent your class to the rest of the student body and to other schools
- Report Student Council activities to your homeroom class
Applications can be picked up from Miss Burnett or Miss Brownell on August 23th and should be returned by August 30th. Election speeches will be given during home-base time on August 31st.
