1) What kind of curriculum does ICS use?
We use an American curriculum. Since we are a Christian school we have a Christian approach to every subject. Our text books and schedules follow the American curriculum. All teachers are screened carefully before they are accepted as teachers at ICS. They need to have the right academic qualifications and must also be committed Christians and active in a church.
2) Does ICS provide financial assistance?
Financial assistance is first of all open for missionaries and full-time Christian workers. However any family who has a genuine need for monetary aid in order for their children to attend ICS can apply. The financial aid is decided on a case by case basis, depending on the parents’ need. The Financial Assistance form can be downloaded from our website.
3) What schools can my child apply to after graduation from high school?
An ICS graduate receives an American Diploma which is recognized by colleges and universities the world over. More than 100 colleges and universities from around the world come to ICS to recruit our graduates. Alumni have been accepted at well known public and private institutions in the US and around the world. ICS test scores are much higher than national averages in the US. Please refer to the High School Profile for detailed information.
Every college and university has their own admissions criteria. Parents and students should begin to research this criteria in the student’s Junior year to best plan for application to the university of choice. Our counseling department regularly engages in conversations with international admissions recruiters from around the world and is a great resource for you as you traverse through the college application process.
4) Do you have to be Christian or come from a Christian family to enroll at ICS?
ICS accepts students from any religion or ethnic background. However it is expected that the student participates in all the Bible classes, Chapel, Spiritual Emphasis Weeks etc. He or she cannot be exempted from any of these classes or activities.
5) Do you enroll students with special needs?
ICS does not have a special education program. We have a small Resource Program. It exists to assist students whose needs are greater than those of their peers.
6) Can my child stay with a guardian while attending ICS?
We only accept students who are in grade 7 or older to stay with a guardian. The guardian must be approved by ICS. The parents have to ensure that the child has a valid student pass and a guardian who is willing to check and help the student with his/her school work. The guardian has to be available when he is contacted during school hours.
7) What visa does my child need to have to study at ICS?
If the child has a dependant pass there is no need to apply for any visas. The school only needs to have a copy of the student’s passport and dependent pass. ICS will initiate the application process for a student pass. The guardian/parent(s) is responsible to complete the process at the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
8) Can my child attend the school while waiting for his visa?
A student can only enroll at ICS with a valid student pass or an In-Principal Approval for student pass from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
9) Singaporean children – can they study at ICS?
ICS will need to obtain Ministry of Education (MOE) approval upon acceptance. Kindergarten enrollment of Singapore citizens does need MOE approval.
